Updates for the New Season – lets hope for a repeat of last year’s Weather!

March 4, 2015

Well into March and new shoots are appearing all around, – as are all our wonderful customers! Thankfully the Winter has proven not to be too severe either in the form of frost or storm, so most of the plants on the Nursery and in the Garden have survived fairly unscathed. Our coldest night just after Christmas fell to – 5.8 c, which was enough to kill some exotics such as Tibouchinia, Cantua, and Euryops that we persevere with but most other frost susceptible plants seem ok.

The Nursery is open again this year- well, it doesn’t really close apart from 2 weeks over Christmas/New Year – from Tuesdays – Fridays 9 – 5 p.m.

Don’t forget we have a self service tea room with homemade cakes open from Mid-March AND a new hi-tech GPRS card machine, – so we really are moving out of the 1970’s where my wife seems to think I still exist in certain ways.(music taste, political views and hoarding of old gardening magazines from that era!)

We are having a 4 day Open Garden Charity event this year early in July. A little different from the usual NGS/Hospiscare open afternoons. The details are as follow so book the dates now!

Thursday 2nd July 2 pm. – 9 p.m. in aid of NGS Tea and cakes in the afternoon. Wine, Nibbles and Music in the Evening.

Friday 3rd July – same as Thursday.

Saturday 4th July 2 – 5.30 pm. in aid of NGS Tea and Cakes.
6-30 p.m. onwards BBQ and Music in aid of CR2ee (Christian Response to Eastern Europe mainly bringing humanitarian aid to Moldova and Romania)

Sunday 5th July 2 – 5.30 p.m. in aid of Hospiscare Tea and Cakes

All these events will be blessed with wonderful weather and will cost £3-50 per adult admission. Children free.
Plenty of parking , fairly wheelchair friendly. The Nursery will be open during these events.
