Spring 2014

March 6, 2014

25 inches of g;orious rainfall,- the same as for the whole year in 2011-fell between mid Dec and the first few days of March here in windswept Kenton, climaxing in a storm that brought a 60 foot Turkey Oak crashing down our boundary bank and blocking the main Exeter – Dawlish road for 12 hours . No train and now no bus or cars! Thankfully no one was hurt and we have a large stack of timber for the woodburner, The Nursery and garden have survived very well all things considered,- much better than if we had had anight of -10 c. frost.

We are now busy potting and giving everything a once over to present well to all the anticipated spring visitors.Bothy self-service tearoom will open in a week or two ,with home made cakes,

Did you know that garden visits are welcome by groups of all sizes? Teas can often be provided in our small pavilion. Please enquire

Our Charity open Days this year are Saturday May 31st, Sunday June 1st and Saturday July 5th, all for National Garden Scheme. Also, Sunday July 6th for Hospicecare. £3 Admission, 2pm – 5.30 pm – All welcome!
